DAWN DUGAN PhD, is a psychologist working with Dr. Sachs. She is gifted in working with individuals of all ages in a variety of settings. She is formally trained in CBT for Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRB’s), such as hair pulling and skin picking, through the TLC Foundation and specializes in working with OCD and related conditions. She also particularly enjoys working with autistic adults and children struggling with anxiety.
Dr. Dugan received her Ph.D. in Clinical and School Psychology and her M.A. in Psychology from Hofstra University. As a doctoral student at Hofstra, Dr. Dugan completed advanced work in cognitive-behavioral therapy and evaluation. She saw patients at both the university’s clinic and in the Parent Child Research Center. Dr. Dugan completed her pre-doctoral internship at Student Counseling Services at Hofstra University, where she specialized in providing evidence-based cognitive-behavioral interventions for young adults with a variety of clinical concerns. Prior to joining Dr. Sachs, Dr. Dugan served as a therapist, evaluator, and clinical researcher at Columbia University, Zucker Hillside Hospital, and Educational Records Bureau. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Dugan has taught and mentored students at Hunter College and SUNY Old Westbury for over a decade.
She continuously considers and explores ways to optimize treatment outcomes for individuals with anxiety, mood, and neurodevelopmental conditions.
